Has anyone been to Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarakhand? (73 อ่าน)

Planning a Himalayan trip this year and Govind Wildlife Sanctuary (also called Govind Pashu Vihar National Park) keeps coming up in my research. It's in Uttarkashi district, spread across 958 sq km, and apparently home to snow leopards, musk deer, and Himalayan tahr, plus over 150 bird species including the monal. I'm mainly drawn to the trekking routes like Har Ki Dun and Kedarkantha, but I'm not sure how tough the permits and logistics are for someone going without a big trekking group. Has anyone done a self-planned trip here, or is it better to book through a local operator? Also curious about the best months to avoid both the heavy monsoon and the winter snowfall closure. Found a solid overview here if anyone wants details on entry fees and nearby stays.
