I ran into a headache at work today. We had some old archival Word documents from a few years ago that were typed in Hindi. When I opened them on my new PC (and on my mobile), the text wasn't showing as Hindi it looked like random English junk characters.



I realized the original files were typed in Kruti Dev 010 (a non-Unicode font), but my system was trying to read them as standard text.



Instead of re-typing the whole thing, I used this tool to convert the text:http://krutidev-to-unicode.com/



It instantly converted the "garbage" text into proper Unicode Hindi (Mangal) that I could actually read and copy-paste into emails or Google Docs.



If you have old Hindi files that look broken, don't delete them! Run them through a converter like this first. Saved me about 4 hours of re-typing today.
